Road Safety Barriers Found On South Africa’s Roads

When it comes to safety on South Africa’s roads, a great deal of attention must be given to the products and features that are designed for our protection. Let’s take road safety barriers for instance; without them many more lives would be lost. If a driver’s vehicle spins out of control and they are aware of the barrier, chances are their lives can be spared. It is unfortunate that so many lives have been lost due to driver negligence.

There is a variety of road safety barriers found on South Africa’s roads. Each of which is designed for a variety of purposes. The following road safety barriers are designed, manufactured and installed on our roads by Armco RSP:

• Stack Man Barriers – these barriers are filled with water and often used at temporary work zone applications. They are tough and extremely durable as they are manufactured from a high impact UV stabilised polyethylene.
• Wire Rope Safety Fences – these barriers are designed to be installed down the centre of dual carriage freeways and roads. They ensure that head-on collisions are not possible. They also ‘catch’ a vehicle should it spin out of control.
• Monster Man Barriers – these barriers are extremely tough and used in hazardous areas. They are manufactures from UV stabilised polyethylene and designed to handle heavy impacts.
• Iron Man Barriers – these particular barriers are longitudinal barriers that redirect vehicles that may be out of control. They can handle an impact with a speed of up to 100km/hour.
• Guard Rail – these barriers are actually also used overseas. They are designed to mark the safe limit of travel and encourage driver confidence.

All of these road safety barriers are designed to create an awareness of danger and to save lives.
