The Uses of Road Cones

Armco RSP is a division of Steelwood Industrial Holdings who supply road safety equipment including road cones. Many of the products that are already in use at road construction sites, that motorists see every day, are safety products that are supplied by Armco RSP.

Armco RSP offers road cones in several different models. Starting with the Melba cone which only weighs 1, 5 kg’s with a wide foot and narrow cone so as not to compromise its stability in windy conditions. This cone also has a small cross section which prevents the cone part from catching the wind like a sail. The wide foot keeps it upright and stable in most weather conditions. The intermediate cone is 500mm high, but has a narrower foot than the Melba cone. However, with an extra 600g weight behind it, this means superior stability is ensured. The largest model in Armco RSP’s range is 750mm high with a large foot that is 410mm wide. This cone is heavy, weighing in at 4,8kg which keeps it stable despite the large cross section which can attract wind.

Road cones are often used to mark off hazardous areas, designate road work sites, direct traffic and even aid the police in situations. Road cones help in making our roads a safer place, for authorities and motorists alike. Armco RSP’s cones are already in use throughout South Africa and motorists have already become familiar with seeing and abiding by them. Armco RSP’s cones can be ordered in various different colours with the most common being the distinctive Day-Glo Orange.
