Armco RSP’s Centurion Road Safety Barriers Include The QuadGuard System

Armco RSP manufactures Centurion road safety barriers in their ISO 1461 hot dip galvanised plant. Temporary Pretoria and Centurion road safety barriers are a common sight in the light of all the road works in progress in these areas. There are also several types of permanent barriers.

Over and above our well-known temporary StackMan and Monster Man plastic, water-filled barriers, and our permanent guardrail barriers, we also manufacture special barrier systems for other applications like our QuadGuard crash cushions used at tollgates. Each of the QuadGuard barriers consists of energy-absorbing, crushable cartridges, surrounded by a steel framework made of Quad-Beam™ panels, which provide very high beam strength. The QuadGuard system is modular and may be used across multiple bays.

The “staged” cartridge design means that the barrier is able to allow a limited amount of deformation necessary to stop a light vehicle with the lowest possible risk of personal injury to the occupants, while the more impact resistant stages allow sufficient crushability to withstand an impact from a heavy vehicle with a high centre of gravity. The monorail base makes for easier installation, without the need for a tension cable or anchor chains. The self-supporting nose requires no legs and shortens installation and maintenance time. Normally, only the plastic nose and cartridges are expended in a head-on impact, which means that refurbishment is quick and the associated costs relatively low.
