Armco RSP’s road safety products save lives

Armco RSP supplies the construction and road building industries in South Africa with leading edge road safety products.  Our road safety products are used at road works sites and our barriers and signage are found everywhere on South Africa’s road network.

Many of these products can be seen where you encounter road works.  We supply the yellow, temporary signs warning of reduced posted speed limits and of road works ahead.  Our very well known yellow and black blade-type delineators channel and divert traffic around road works.  In many cases, you will also see long lines of our temporary barriers.  These are installed to safeguard the lives of road workers working behind them.  These plastic, yellow barriers are light to carry and easy to interlock and install.  Once they are in place, they are filled with water to offer excellent penetration resistance.

Our permanent barriers are also a common sight.  Permanent barriers are installed in places where it would be particularly hazardous if your vehicle were to leave the road, like on bridges, on overpasses, on sharp curves and at road elevations.  The guardrail barrier that we manufacture is fitted with reflectors to clearly delineate the limit of safe travel at night.  However, if contact is made, the supports are designed to snap, allowing the barrier to deform and “catch” the errant vehicle and direct it back onto the roadway.  A wire rope safety fence is sometimes used instead, especially on medians where it serves as a barrier against traffic from either side.
