Midrand has become a huge metropolitan and industrial area linking Johannesburg and Pretoria.  Because of its high growth rate, road works are a common sight, especially in view of the road network upgrades in progress in anticipation of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.  Armco RSP manufactures a lot of the Midrand road safety products that meet these needs.

Midrand road safety products cover a wide range, from temporary barriers and signage at road works sites to permanent barriers, cat’s eyes, speed ramps and permanent signage.  Our barriers are widely used.  The well known yellow StackMan temporary barriers are used at road works sites because they are light and easy to install, after which they are filled with water.  However, to prevent an accident in the first place, we alert motorists with our speed limit signage and our yellow and black blade-type delineators.  We also employ semi-permanent safe-hit channelisers where complex diversions in high-risk areas warrant them.

Our permanent guardrail barriers are installed next to road in hazardous areas and are fitted with reflectors.  We also install very strong impact barriers at tollgates to safeguard the lives of tollbooth operators.  These barriers have to be extremely strong and impact-resistant, because runaway vehicles may differ in size and weight, ranging from motorcycles to trucks, and they often travel at highway cruising speeds.
