The main causes of accidents at road works sites are due to drivers racing up a converging lane too far before merging, driving too fast for the current conditions, improper merging where lanes converge, inadequate lighting and signposting at road works sites and inattentive drivers, or drivers who are paying attention to roadside distractions, cellular phones, passengers or car radios.
