The following statistics from the Road Traffic Report, March 2008 attests to the noticeable decline, mentioned above: “Over the 12-month period from 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008 the number of fatal crashes decreased by 1,000 (7,95%) from 12,577 crashes over the same period the previous year to 11,577.”
